Vineyard: We used fruit from diverse vineyards throughout California for our Chardonnay, imparting layers and depth from the various locations. A large portion of the fruit came from the coast, where cool Pacific breezes maintain bright acids and crisp flavors. The soft, ripe fruit of the inland vineyards provided balance. This perfect combination makes for a well-balanced, fruity and fabulous wine. Winemaking: Our recipe for this Chardonnay was simple: take some great grapes and add a kiss of oak, a kiss of malolactic fermentation and a kiss of Muscat. Voilà! A finely balanced and utterly enjoyable Chardonnay. Working with the luscious tropical flavors of the Chardonnay, we used light touches of French oak, lees stirring and malolactic fermentation to soften the mouthfeel and fatten up the flavors. Just prior to bottling, we blended in a small amount of Muscat. Vintage: A cool vintage, the 2010 growing season was favorable for white varietals. The moderate temperatures, combined with careful vineyard practices, ensured that the fruit ripened evenly and the flavors achieved their maximum potential. Extended hangtime allowed the fruit to develop intense, complex flavors. Key Facts: A Chardonnay with lush, tropical fruit flavors, kissed by a touch of vanilla.
